 "WHY CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION IS BEEN INTRODUCE IN MASS COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT"

 The Reason for the introduction is to stop and eradicate the act of indiscipline in the nation, and you know every act of indiscipline start from the Youth, since all the bodies introduced by Former Leader of the Nation fail to work, the like of
(War Against Indiscipline 1984 by Buhari, National Orientation Agency 2005 by Ibrahim Babangida Badamosi, Independent corrupt practices Commission 2000 by Obasanjo) All failed, that the Reason for Including Citizenship Education in the Curriculum of All Department in Higher Institutions.

 First, What is Citizenship Education? Citizenship Education is the systematic or scientific study of the government of a Nation, Rights, duties and obligation of citizens in such a Nation.

 The main objective of introducing the Citizenship Education is to Expose the Nigerian Student to the basic concepts and provision of the Nigerian constitution, the consciousness and awareness of democratic values, socio-political institutions and the citizen's right and obligation to the society.

 Reasons For including Citizenship Education in All Courses not only Mass Communication is as follows:

 1. Citizenship Education teaches student about The Government system of the Country 

 2.  It teaches student how to take informed and responsible action as Citizens

 3.  It teaches student about the diverse national, cultural, environmental and religious value in Nigeria 

 4.  It teaches the student to know their rights and duties 

 5.  It teaches student the skills of advocacy and representation.

 I know most of you will be like, We did Government in our Secondary School back then, Yes, you did but Citizenship Education is build more on the foundation you had, 

 Apart from that, All Citizens demand for CHANGE right? It is the Citizenship Education that will Teach You how to govern a Nation or State in Future time.

 It Teaches you to know your Rights and at the same time Let you know things you can Do and your Rights will taken away from you.
